Army, police to continue operations vs NPA

AN OFFICIAL of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) said the combat operations against the communist insurgents in the hinterlands will not stop.

City police director Senior Superintendent Nelson Aganon said the Cocpo's City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) and the military are jointly guarding the boundaries of the city's hinterlands to ensure forces of the New People’s Army (NPA) could not penetrate here.

Aganon said the operation will continue especially after top leaders of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) reportedly declared all-out-war against the government forces.

“Binabantayan natin yung threat ng CPP-NPA na all-out war against the military and the police so dalawa ang pinoprotectionan namin and aming sarili and the public,” Aganon said.

Aganon urged the public including social media users to report sightings of NPA anywhere in the city.

He said they will do realignment of the CMFC to help government soldiers thwart NPA attacks, atrocities and unlawful activities.

“We will realign yung ating (our) mobile forces and definitely continuous ang ating operation sa ating boundaries para di sila makapasok,” Aganon said.

“We are monitoring the hinterlands lie barangay Besigan at kasama natin ang 65th Infantry Battalion and Task Force Oro kasi atin ang internal core ng security,” he added.

The CMFC is now headed by former deputy city director for administration Senior Superintendent Isaias Bacurnay Jr. after he replaced Superintendent Francis Pasno who retired from service.
