PREMIUM Economy Class on Philippine Airlines is a wise choice when flying to your next international destination. Having flown all three classes on board PAL, let me state for a fact that the Premium Economy section is the next best thing to flying Business Class.

For one, it’s cheaper than the cost of a Mabuhay Class seat yet it can offer the comfort very comparable to the front most section.

For a few more bucks, here’s why flying Premium Economy on your next trip abroad is a wise move.

1. On ground, you can enjoy priority check-in and boarding. No long queues, no waiting!

2. Extra baggage allowance. Well, the shoppers and fashionistas know how important this feature is.

3. On the plane, the seats are more comfortable on this class than coach. Not only is it wider it also offers generous leg room (38”, baby!). Let me give you a clear picture, the Premium Economy seats on the new tri-class PAL aircrafts almost resemble the Business Class seats of its predecessors. The seats have built-in leg and foot rests, it can recline like your favorite lounging chair at home, and you have your own TV screen.

4. The hot meal options are enhanced and you get to enjoy it with more elbow room on your choice seat.

5. In countries with busy airport Immigration like Bangkok, you get a Priority Pass like Mabuhay Class passengers do. There is a designated immigration section for you. Skip the snaking queues and get admitted earlier than the rest.

6. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, in cases that PAL downgrades the aircraft to a smaller plane with two sections, you get upgraded to Mabuhay Class! That happened to me on my way home from Bangkok.

Here’s more good news for frequent domestic travelers. PAL has additional daily flights in and out of Davao that took effect this month: Cebu (CEB-DVO PR 2345; DVO-CEB PR 2346); Clark (CLARK-DVO PR831; DVO to CLARK PR832); Zamboanga (DVO-ZAM PR259 and DVO-ZAM PR2593; ZAM-DVO PR2592 and ZAM-DVO PR2594); Tagbilaran (DVO-TAG PR2372; TAG-DVO PR2373).
