Councilor asks mayor to convene city peace and order council

BACOLOD City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. is asking Mayor Evelio Leonardia to convene the peace and order council to formulate measures in the prevention and resolution of all heinous crimes in the city.

Gamboa said on Wednesday, December 19, that Councilor Ricardo Tan and his wife were waylaid by certain armed personalities while they were on their way back to Bacolod City from a resort in Talisay City last week.

"Heinous crimes against personalities like Atty. Rafael Atutubo and Barangay Captain Nelson Ligaya has remained unresolved and that a special task force may be formed and the reward system should be implemented by the local chief executive for early resolution of these high crimes," he said.

Gamboa noted that the City of Bacolod through its local chief executive may use the intelligence funds in support to law enforcement agencies and its support anti-crime groups such as the guardians, barangay tanods, peace and community action, and crime stopper groups.

Gamboa said the peace and order ordinances such as riding-in-tandem, bonnet, and closed-circuit television ordinances should be strictly implemented by law enforcement agencies.

He said the breakdown in law enforcement and unresolved crimes have caused fear in the community and may affect the way of life in this highly-urbanized city. (MAP)
