Sungduan: Bibak NC Christmas party

FUN and laughter echoed in the air at the Holly Community Center Auditorium, Union City, California as members of the Bibak of North California gathered together for their annual Christmas Party.

Newly-inducted Bibak of North California president Rev. Leonard Oakes said the occasion was so special as most of the members were present and they all had fun knowing each other and dreaming together for a stronger group.

The activity also made their home country closer to them as it also showcased their rich cultural heritage and traditions. They sang their favorite Igorot songs with popular musicians like Conrad Marzan and dance to the beat of the gong played by the male members.

Youth representative Jonaly Wosborly said such occasion is very important because the young generations are also taught about the beauty and uniqueness of their cultural heritage which they are really very proud of.

No less than Philippine Department of Tourism USA headed by Tourism Attache Purificacion Suanding-Molintas attended the event with the induction of the new set of officers as another highlight.

Joining Pres. Oakes who took their oath during the induction lead by Molintas are Vice Pres Salve Agiao, Asst. VP Grace Anderson, Secretary Lily May Catanes, and Assst. Sec J. Pengosro and J. Arandia.

The other officers are Treasurer Judy Dulay, Asst. Treasurer Dora Pengosro, Pilar Mano Marzan, Auditor Lily May Catanes, PRO John Dyte, and PRO Liason Philippines Art Bulayo,

The Board of Directors are Tony Buangan, Joel Aliping, Richard Arandia, Bonnie Bito-Monterey, Esther Bulayo, Rose Dontogan, John Dyte, Jocelyn Khangab, Madeline Pengosro, Maia Pucay, Sobrena Somebang, and Helen Tade-Monterey.

Oakes said one big project they are preparing as early as now is the BIBAK of NC Grand Canao which will be held on August 3, 2019. He hopes Cordillerans around the globe will support and join the event.

There is no greater joy than being with fellow Cordillerans abroad like in an ordinary fellowship or important event like the annual Christmas Party where everyone feel that they truly belong to a family.

Merry, merry Christmas to all of you!
