La Trinidad lifts number coding

BENGUET’S capital town La Trinidad has lifted the number coding scheme from December 20 to January 2, 2019.

Through executive order, La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda stated the move was prior to the celebration of the Yuletide season with the holiday rush, including influx of tourists and purchasers of vegetables at La Trinidad Trading Post.

“In order to accommodate and provide better mobility to the tourists and for residents of Benguet’s capital town in preparing for Christmas and New Year, there is a need to suspend the Number Coding Scheme,” adds the executive order released December 18.

In addition, at least 15 business establishments were observed causing traffic obstructions and congestions along the highway of La Trinidad by the Traffic Management of La Trinidad Municipal Police Station.

In improving traffic situation in the valley, the police recommended establishments to conduct delivery of construction materials and goods on an earlier time.

With limited space for delivery trucks and customers to park, the management must further advise their customers to return when the purchase of goods is available.

Establishments along KM.4 were advised to assign additional security guards to assist in the parking and departure of customers, and man the entrance and exit of the parking area.

The establishments were further required to comment on the observations and recommendations of the traffic management section.

In earlier interviews, La Trinidad police chief Jeoffer Banglayan asked for the cooperation and discipline of motorists plying and visiting the town reminding motorists and pedestrians’ discipline in following traffic rules, no-smoking law, proper waste segregation.

With the Strawberry farm serving as the top tourist’s destination in the province, the valley records 800,000 annual visitors.
