PASKO Fiesta’s lighted-vehicle competition dubbed as Lamdag Parada was cancelled again due to lack of entries.

Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) head Generose Tecson yesterday said that there will still be other activities even without the cancelled event today.

“Kulang yung participants so last December 3, pina-cancel ko na. Instead, we have Alab Poi Led Light dancers and Sayaw sa Pasko finals on December 22,” Tecson said.

The activity was supposed to give away more than P600,000 cash prize for the winning entries as it was considered as one of the highlights of the Pasko Fiesta celebration in the city.

Lamdag Parada director Gatchi Gatchalian had urged the individuals, group, organization, institution or company to join in the event with Winter Wonderland as theme for Christmas decorations but still ended up with a low turnout.

“Because of poor turnout, we had some learnings and will surely make an early announcement to allow participants to prepare,” Gatchalian said in a text message to SunStar Davao.

The announced deadline of entry submission for the competition was December 15 but it was cancelled earlier as Tecson reported that no one wants to join the competition.

“Wala kasi talagang gustong sumali pati ‘yung mga kumuha ng registration form hindi nag-commit. We cannot afford to spend much on production tapos wala palang mag-join,” she said.

The Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) bared last December 6, during the ISpeak media forum, that they already prepared for alternative routes and road closure in downtown areas for the supposed upcoming Pasko Fiesta activities supposedly to be implemented today, starting 5 p.m. for Lamdag Parada.

CTTMO head Dionisio Abude said Thursday in a phone interview that since Lamdag Parada was cancelled, they will implement the alternative routes plan on December 22 for the Banda Dasig.

He added that they will start giving out flyers today to inform vehicle owners about the alternative routes and specific areas for parking during events.
