ONLINE sellers must register their businesses with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in order to assure Dabawenyos of the quality of their products, Trade and Industry Assistant Regional Director Edwin O. Banquerigo said.

He said that once online sellers are registered, they can avail of the different trainings that DTI has prepared for entrepreneurs to be more competitive in the market.

“We have trainings allotted for them to help them have more customers using the online platform which falls under E-Commerce,” Banquerigo said in a press conference on Thursday, November 20, 2018 at The Pinnacle Hotel and Suits, Davao City.

The Philippine E-Commerce Roadmap entices Filipinos to also collaborate for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) development.

“The e-commerce roadmap unlocks the doors to a virtual market of approximately 3.37 billion internet users worldwide, 1.62 billion in Asia, and 47.13 million in the Philippines,” the roadmap states.

The Philippine E-Commerce Roadmap 2016-2020 is a blueprint to address issues in the country’s e-commerce ecosystem on infrastructure, investment, innovation, intellectual capital, information flows, and integration as key focus areas.

Meanwhile, Banquerigo also underscored the importance of having a physical store for online sellers as well to secure business transactions for Dabawenyo consumers.

Banquerigo said that with a physical store, it would be easier to address future complaints from consumers.

He also urged consumers to read reviews of the products they will be purchasing to help other consumers make informed decisions before making a purchase.
