ILOILO City Mayor Jose Espinosa III considered 2018 as the “most awarded year” for the city.

He said that the success and awards achieved by the city were due to the efforts of the employees of the City Hall who imparted their work contributions with the projects.

“Daw indi na ko ma-isip sang mga awards naton nga nakuha sa national regional kag even international nga awards so gapasalamat gid ko sa tanan kag mapa guwa gid ta guro sang information kung ano gid nga mga awards ang nakuha naton under my administration nga 2018 (it seems like I can’t count the awards we received in national, regional and even international awards so I’m really thankful to all and maybe we will issue information of the awards we have received under my administration this 2018),” Espinosa said.

“I give the people who are in charged, full authority. I don’t even criticize on what they do, I just listen because we also monitor it all,” Espinosa said.

Espinosa was previously the vice mayor of the city and his regime started after the Office of the Ombudsman issued a dismissal order to former Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog due to his unexplained wealth in October 2018.

On October 30, Espinosa then took oath as the mayor of the city to fill in Mabilog’s post.

In 2019, Espinosa plans to continue providing the programs directly to the people. One of his program that received a positive response to the public is the “Pag-Ulikid sang Siyudad.”

The program aims to give the government services directly per barangays of the city.

Espinosa declared to run as city mayor again on June 18, 2019. His potential rival will be his brother-in-law, the former mayor, and incumbent Congressman Jerry Treñas.
