BLISTTDA hearing set next year

SENATOR Richard Gordon will convene a public consultation on the proposed Baguio, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay Development Authority (BLISTTDA).

Set for the 4th of January next year, Gordon is set to gather stakeholders for a sit down talk on the proposed plan to set into place development for Baguio City and the neighboring areas.

Baguio Representative Mark Go said “as the author of the bill, I take with great concern and interest the insightful comments of Sen. Richard Gordon on the current state of Baguio and his expression of support to the creation of the BLISTT Development Authority.”

Go supports the move of Gordon to set a consultation in the city.

“I agree to have another public consultation to hear more inputs from the various stakeholders before the bill is finalized and approved in the Senate Committee,” he added.

The Baguio solon said the consultation is next month here in Baguio City.

“I’m hopeful that this bill will be passed into law before the 17th Congress ends,” Go added.

Go stands by his claim the BLISTTDA will answer calls to rehabilitate the city as well as spur development on the neighboring areas of the Mountain Resort.

This year, the House of Representatives voted on HB 6974 seeking the creation of BLISTTDA.

The six areas of BLISTTDA including Baguio will be represented in the council and under the authority where all matters will be discussed and agreed upon.

The BLISTTDA will exercise management, regulatory and supervisory authority and will include services of development planning, urban renewal, land use planning, housing and shelter formulation, transport and traffic management, solid waste disposal and management, flood control and sewerage management, water resource system, health and sanitation, pollution control and public safety and order.

The proposed measure will render services having wider coverage and impact as well as rationalize the usage of infrastructures and thoroughfares, transport and traffic management, environment, tourism, water supply and waste management, migration, and housing.
