Nalzaro: Look who’s talking

THE “former political has-been” has kicked out newly elected Mabolo barangay captain Niña Mabatid from the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) because she is running for president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) against the BOPK-endorsed candidate, Kasambagan barangay captain Franklin Ong.

The other reason is that Mabatid was involved in an altercation inside Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Lahug where she berated a hotel detective. A CCTV footage on the incident went viral in social media.

But Mabatid justified her action claiming she was unfairly treated by the hotel detective, who mistook her for an “escort.” She was with her husband, Dr. Ramon Floresca, a Mindanao-based businessman, when the incident happened.

The “former political has-been” described Mabatid’s act as embarrassing. “I have been mayor for 30 years. That is the worst example of somebody misbehaving. She is flaunting her power. That is not acceptable. I don’t care how much help you gave to me. She helped me (during the campaign period for the May 2016 elections) yes, but so with the others and others don’t get drunk and punch people around,” he said.

But why was Mabatid kicked out from BOPK when she never took her oath with the group? She was not supported by the group during the barangay elections. In fact, she felt betrayed by the same person who urged her to run, as the BOPK leadership supported her opponent, lawyer Daniel Arguedo, who is now the head of the barangay mayor’s office (BMO).

As for the altercation, Nina never hurt the hotel detective. It was her partner who hit and pushed him and and the female duty manager. But which is more very scandalous and questionable, Niña’s behavior inside the hotel or the “political has-been’s” own “misbehavior” done decades ago? Remember what he did to a barbecue vendor at JY square?

After a warning, vendor Willer Sanchez continued to display his barbecue at the side of the street. One night, the “former political has-been,” who was reeking with liquor, passed by the area and without any warning turned the tables over and stepped on the barbecue.

If he was merely implementing an ordinance against sidewalk vending, was that the proper way to do it? Wasn’t he “misbehaving” when he broke the religious icons displayed by Sto. vendors who stood up to him? He even closed the Sto. Niño church gate so buyers couldn’t have access to the vendors. Mao nang gigaba-an siya. Gihatagan og sakit.

Isn’t it “misbehaving” when you pull the feet of taxi drivers who slept in the hood of their unit?

Isn’t it arrogance and abuse of power when you deny entry to opposition barangay captains? Isn’t it an abuse to display your firearms during a labor dispute? Look whose talking? As if he is not arrogant and abusive.

Maayo lang siya manaway sa uban. Pero wala niya tan-awa ang iyang kaugalingon kon dili ba kaha usab siya abusado. Manamin unta siya sa dili pa siya manaway kay siya otro sab nga abusado.
