CROWDS gathered to witness the gigantic 50-foot Christmas tree—inspired by under-the-sea elements featuring colorful jellyfish, corals, pearls and shells—at SM Seaside City Cebu’s Mountain Wing Atrium!
Accompanying the festive scenery is a 27-foot cake dome with a digital theater inside featuring a two-minute video about a whale shark: “Ding, The Great Butanding.”
Getting into the Christmas spirit even more so, guests enjoyed an impressive “under the sea” performance delighting everyone present by the talented performers from the University of Cebu Chorale (for the choir presentation) and the University of Cebu Dance Company (for the sea creature dance). Taking on their roles with much passion for a play as part of the tree lighting: Ana Trazona as the grandmother, Zuliana Joanna Semilla as the granddaughter and Zulina Tyler Axil Tolentino as a talking turtle. The story was about the sea devastated by human activities but saved by a sea savior. What followed next was the sight of a magical blue star before the tree that lit up! The sea theme is the definition of SM Seaside City, for the mall’s structure itself is made to look like a nautilus shell.
SM Seaside City Cebu is also inviting everyone for SM Bears of Joy. For just P200, one can purchase a pair of toy bears, where one bear goes to you (the customer) and the other bear to a chosen charity. Customers may write their names on the card attached to the bear to make this donation more personal and heart-warming.
The Christmas Tree display will stay up at the Mountain Wing Atrium of SM Seaside City Cebu until Jan. 7, 2019.
