PNP beefs up security in Northern Mindanao

FOLLOWING the abduction of two government soldiers and 12 militiamen in a raid staged by the Communist rebels in Sibagat town, Agusan del Sur, last Wednesday, December 19, the top official of the Northern Mindanao police has ordered all police stations and camps in the region to beef up security and secure vital installations.

Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb, Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) director, has directed police units to undertake target hardening measures and coordinate with the military counterparts to harmonize operations and interoperability.

This after the New People’s Army (NPA) took Corporal Eric Manangan and Private First Class Darlino Carino including CAFGU active auxiliaries from barangays San Roque and New Tubigon, Agusan del Sur.

The Maoist guerrillas also took 23 assorted firearms from the military patrol base during the raid.

A day after, three soldiers were wounded after the NPA fighters staged ambush in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

The region's top cop has ordered to strengthen intelligence monitoring and conduct proactive security patrol.

All mobile forces personnel were also directed not to have a holiday break to ward off more possible terror attacks and tactical offensives of the NPA.
