Teen found dead, ‘raped’ in Carcar

A TEENAGER was found without life and without underwear in Sitio Sangi, Barangay Guadalupe in Carcar City at 10 a.m. on Christmas Day.

The woman was later identified as Ruby Trinidad, 18, a grade 11 student of the Teotimo Abellana Sr. Memorial High School in Barangay Bolok-Bolok in Barili town.

Trinidad was believed to have been raped after residents found her without underwear. This was confirmed by the medico-legal officer of the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory when he examined the victim.

Police also found white sand on Trinidad’s private parts, which could mean that she came from the seashore.

Trinidad was also found to have bruises all over her body, including a prominent one in the neck, leading investigators to infer that she was choked to death. There were no open wounds in the body and head of the victim.

Unknown

No one from the area knew Trinidad. They believed that she was raped and killed elsewhere and was just dumped in the area by the suspects.

Sangi residents called the police, who responded quickly. The investigation led them to identify the woman as Trinidad.

Police Regional Office 7 Director Debold Sinas ordered the Carcar City Police Station to intensify its investigation in order to identify the suspects in the rape-slay.

Based on the bruises, investigators believe that there was more than one perpetrator.

“The girl seemed like she was just recovered there,” said Sinas. “We talked to the medico-legal (officer). They are checking the area because it seemed like it had been quite some time and there is a semblance of abuse.”

According to the Scene of the Crime Operatives who inspected Trinidad’s body, the woman could have been dead for some time. They believed that Trinidad was raped and killed in one area and just dumped later in Sangi.

The investigators will do some backtracking to identify the people seen with Trinidad when she was still alive. These people will be part of the investigation. From AYB of Superbalita Cebu / JGA
