Go confident about BLISTTDA bill approval

BAGUIO Representative Mark Go is confident that the Baguio, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay Development Authority (BLISTTDA) bill would be approved and enacted into law.

With the forthcoming Senate hearing in the city on January 4, Go said “we are considering here all inputs from stakeholders that would further improve the bill and to serve its noble purpose. I am confident that the BLISTTDA bill will soon be passed by the Senate and be enacted into law.”

Senator Richard Gordon is set to convene a public consultation on the BLISTTDA to talk on the proposed plan to set into place development for Baguio City and the neighboring areas.

Go stands by his claim the BLISTTDA will answer calls to rehabilitate the city as well as spur development on the neighboring areas of the Mountain Resort.

This year, the House of Representatives voted on HB 6974 seeking the creation of BLISTTDA.

The six areas of BLISTTDA including Baguio will be represented in the council, and under the authority where all matters will be discussed and agreed upon.

BLISTTDA will exercise management, regulatory and supervisory authority and will include services of development planning, urban renewal, land use planning, housing and shelter formulation, transport and traffic management, solid waste disposal and management, flood control and sewerage management, water resource system, health and sanitation, pollution control and public safety and order.

The proposed measure will render services having wider coverage and impact as well as rationalize the usage of infrastructures and thoroughfares, transport and traffic management, environment, tourism, water supply and waste management, migration, and housing.

Go said invited for the January 4 public consultation are various stakeholders from BLISTT communities, LGU officials, government agencies, academe, business, tourism, IPs, religious and media groups.

“The Senate Committee is expected to finalize the bill and Sen. Gordon will present it for second reading upon the resumption of Congress on January 14, 2019,” Go added.
