DAVAO City Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) plans a system upgrade to tighten security in the city in 2019.

PSSCC head Angel Sumagaysay said in an interview with Sunstar Davao on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, that they have prioritized the upgrading of their technology.

They have also pushed for the upgrading of their human resources through additional trainings.

“Daghan ta ug plano sa PSSCC. Una, ipa-strengthen pa nato ang coordination with other units, be it uniformed or non-uniformed, sa pagpatuman ug pagpadayon sa security set-up and protocols (We have a lot of plans, first is to strengthen coordination with other units in the implementation of security set-up and protocols),” Sumagaysay said.

“And of course, yung upgrading din ng ating system kay tanan naga-upgrade man (And of course, we need to upgrade our system because everything else is upgrading nowadays),” he added.

PSSCC is the office in charge of monitoring the hundreds of CCTV cameras around the city, alongside the city’s Central 911 system, and assists the Task Force Davao (TFD) and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) in providing intelligence during operations.

Sumagaysay said the center oversights TFD, DCPO, City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), Central 911, Civil Security Unit (CSU), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other units that involved security.

Meanwhile, Sumagaysay said that they are also orchestrating the coordination as they expect more national and local activities to be held in the city in 2019.

“So just imagine ang Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA), Iron Man Challenge and Palarong Pambansa and of course Araw ng Dabaw na naman next year,” he said.
