RELIABLE, accessible and real — the essential traits of a friend. It’s what we all hope to find, and when we do, it’s for keeps.

These are the same traits a visitor can say of bai Hotel in Cebu. In the couple of times I visited the hotel, naming the hospitality establishment after the Cebuano term for “friend” is quite appropriate, I must say.

When you see a friend, the smile is always present. The smiles you get from the bai crew at every turn in the hotel are real. It’s genuine, beamed while greeting you at any time of day with the left hand placed on the heart. One can’t help it but smile in return. It’s the local flair of the 100% homegrown brand that offers world-class services. You’re not a visitor in this place, you’re a friend.

Accessible, this friend is easily within reach. If you’re a frequent visitor of Cebu, you’ll know traffic can be horrendous. But one of the best things I like about bai Hotel is its location. It’s at the heart of the metropolis, in Mandaue City.

On a good day, like Sunday, the drive to the airport was fifteen minutes. The hotel’s close proximity to the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge is a plus, not to mention the major shopping, entertainment and business districts are also close by.

To open the largest hotel outside of Manila means bai is up to the task. After several months on dry run, the 668-room hotel is fully operational and running smoothly.

You can rely on bai for a restful stay in any of the well-appointed rooms or suites with a spectacular view of the harbor or the city. Perhaps you’ll be enjoying more perks at the Executive Club floors, like the convenience of a 24-hour butler services, modern office and support services and access to the private dining room where you can breakfast, all-day coffee and evening cocktails, but staying in any room will not diminish your special treatment you deserve from any of the hotel staff. Besides, all hotel guests have access to the outdoor infinity lap pool, fitness center, spa services and more.

bai will never allow you to go hungry. Just like any home, food is abundant and choices are only the best for friends. With eight restaurants, you can sate any of your food cravings. Café bai serves a wide variety of Asian and Western cuisine; Marble + Grain Steakhouse serves the finest custom-aged USDA prime beef; Ume and its resident Japanese chef will transport you to Japan with its impressive dishes; Twilight Roofdeck Lounge + Bar is the perfect spot for a drink while watching the sun set and savor a 360-degree view of the city; and more.

On your next visit to Cebu, check out bai Hotel. One visit can lead to another. It’s how friendship starts.

P.S. bai Hotel is a member of the WorldHotels, a global brand representing more than 350 independent hotels around the world.
