Man who jumped from ro-ro vessel found dead

THE man who jumped from a roll-on, roll-off vessel near the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. port at the Reclamation Area on December 24 was found dead on the waters of Barangay Punta Taytay, Bacolod City on Thursday, December 27.

The man was found after three days of search and rescue operation.

Lieutenant Commander Ludovico Librilla Jr., head of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)- Bacolod, identified the fatality as Remy Quilantang, 38, of Isabela, Negros Occidental.

Librilla said he was bloated when found by PCG personnel at 9:10 a.m.

Librilla said Quilantang went missing for three days after he jumped off from the vessel on his way home, a day before Christmas Day.

Librilla said the victim has not eaten for few days before the incident happened, based on the statement of his wife.

He’s been acting strange lately but the family does not know his reason, Librilla added.

Quilantang came from Capiz, where he visited his relatives. He was alone when he travelled back home.

He was identified through his surname on his clothes.

Meanwhile, two fishermen were also reported missing in Cauayan town last week. (GYM)
