DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry Davao (DTI 11) Assistant Regional Director Edwin O. Banquerigo said more investment promotion activities would be undertaken next year to entice businesses to expand and set up operations in the region.

He said this is in line with the department’s vision of making Davao region an ideal place for investments.

“We need to show that there is really more to Davao and we must really work hard in offering our best services to attract businessmen and businesswomen to come here in Davao,” Banquerigo said in a press conference.

He said business conferences are a huge help in increasing business activities in the region.

In 2018, DTI held different programs and projects which were conducted to attain the goal of making the region competitive.

To match business potential investors in the region, DTI spearheaded the Compostela Valley Business and Investment Conference 2018 (Comval Biz-iCon) in March this year.

DTI reported that the business and investment conference gathered 312 key industry stakeholders from Comval’s focus industry like banana, coffee, mining, and tourism.

Comval Biz-iCon booked around P9 million worth of investments.

A P57-million negotiated and booked sales was also recorded from the province’s banana sector. The event also launched the “Pagsugpatan”, a coffee table book commemorating the province’s 20 years economic development.

Similar business fora where conducted earlier this year in different parts of the region which highlighted key industry products of the province.

Development of the seaweed industry was the focus in this year’s Samal Island Investment Forum. Department of Agriculture 11 (DA 11) also provided 20 fishing boats for the seaweed farmers.

More than a P100 million worth of investments was also recorded during the Municipality of Sta. Cruz Investment Business forum which focused on eco-friendly business industries.
