Storm signals over Visayas lifted

THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration lifted the Storm Signal No. 1 in Cebu and other parts of the country after Tropical Depression Usman dissipated when it made landfall in Eastern Samar at 6 a.m. on Saturday, December 29.

With the storm now dissipated, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)- Central Visayas has allowed some passenger vessels stranded in Cebu to travel to other parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

However, sea travel to Masbate and Luzon is still not possible due to the presence of a low pressure area there.

At least 2,387 passengers were stranded in various ports in Cebu and Bohol.

Aside from inter-island travelers, PCG also grounded 111 rolling cargo vessels, 27 passenger vessels, and four motorbancas due to Usman. (HBL of Superbalita Cebu/ with JKV)
