PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, December 29, warned a mayor in Albay to stop threatening the widow of slain Ako Bicol Representative Rodel Batocabe, who was receiving death threats prior to his death and after filing his candidacy for Daraga mayor in 2019 midterm polls.
Duterte made the remark in a speech delivered in Kidapawan City, Cotabato, but did not name the Albay mayor he was referring to.
The President threatened to place the unnamed mayor under "ultimate humiliation," if Batocabe's widow continues to receive threats.
"Nung sa Albay, hindi ko siya pinangalan pero sabi ko, mayor, huwag mo talaga akalain na ikaw lang ang marunong na gumawa ng ganoon. Do not ever think na ikaw lang, na you have the monopoly of evil in this world. Marami tayo. Kung kaya mong mag-isip ng ganon, kaya ko rin," the President warned.
(In Albay, I won't give the name, but I said, mayor, do not ever think that you're the only one capable of doing that. Do not ever think that you're the only one who can do that, that you have the monopoly of evil in this world. There are many of us. If you can think that way, I can do it as well.)
"So huwag ka masyadong... Sabi ko, p***** i* ka, huwag mong takutin iyang biyuda. Sabi ko sa biyuda sige ikaw ang tumakbo. Sabi ko sa kanya kapag nakarinig pa ako ng panakot-nakot mo dito, pupuntahan kita sa bahay. Sabihin ko sa iyo, ayaw kong gawin iyan pero sa harap ng asawa mo pati anak mo, sampalin kita. I will give you the ultimate humiliation," he added.
(So do not be overly confident. I said, son of a b****, do not threaten the widow. I told the widow to run as the town's mayor in place of his husband. I said, if she receives another threat, I will go to the house of one threatening her. I tell you, I don't want to do it but I'll be forced to slap you in front of your spouse and children. I will give you the ultimate humiliation.)
Batocabe, who was running for Daraga mayor in next year's elections, was shot to death by unidentified assailants while distributing Christmas gifts in Daraga, Albay on December 22.
Before his slay, Batocabe accused rival sins in the mayoral race of tapping armed groups to influence the May 2019 polls.
Batocabe's family was not discounting the possibility that politics was behind the murder of the congressman.
The rival of assassinated lawmaker in next year's mayoral race, incumbent Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo, already denied any role in the killing of Batocabe.
Duterte reiterated that he would not let any politicians "terrorize" their rivals.
"Kapag tine-terrorize mo ang bayan at walang magandang resulta, it does not reflect the sentiment of the people, you will be facing me. Talagang pupunta ako dito at pupuntahan kita sa bahay mo. P***** i** mo, leche ka. Gusto mong subukan, pupunta talaga kita sa bahay," he said.
(If you terrorize your country and it does not yield good results, it does not reflect the sentiment of the people, you will be facing me. I will really go to your house, you son of a b****, you're stupid. Don't try me, I will really go to your house.)
"Ngayon, gusto mo nang barilan, eh di sige. Okay, dalawa tayo. Pasok tayo doon sa kwarto mo, kapag hindi ko pasabugin ang b**** mo. Maniwala iyan, iyan papatay ng tao. Katakot talaga. Bakit? Gusto ang posisyon," he added.
(Now, you want a gunfight? Fine. It's just the two of us. Let's go yo your room and shot your t*******. He will kill a person? It's horrible. Why? Because he wants the position.) (SunStar Philippines)
