2 cops charged for Deloso murder try

A CITY police official over the weekend said investigators were clueless about the charges filed by Superintendent Michael John Deloso against two fellow policemen, whom he identified as having a hand in the attempt to kill him.

Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), said Deloso, deputy chief of the Regional Police Strategy Management Unit, did not cooperate with the investigators in the filing of the case.

Regional State Prosecutor Merlynn Uy said Deloso filed frustrated murder charges before the City Prosecutor's Office last December 20. But, she refused to give further details.

The two police officers were reportedly members of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) in Camp Alagar.

Hortillosa could not also identify and confirm the respondents of the case as they do not have the documents at hand.

"Gi-blind gyud mi niya pero iya nang katungod mo file og kaso siguro naa siyay rason ngano gihilom niya ang pag-file sa kaso," Hortillosa said.

Hortillosa said the case is considered cleared since charges were filed in court.

But, he said the investigation will still continue as they gather more solid evidences.

"Dako ni epekto sa kaso kay mahimong cleared ang kaso pero dili pa siya solve kay wala pa man ma-detain ug dili pa sad siya case close kay wala pa may conviction," Hortillosa said.

"Padayon ang investigation kay mangita pa man tag mga ebidensya nga mopalig-on sa kaso ug ato pud tan-awon ang CCTV kung mao ba gyud tong mga tawhana ang na-filan sa kaso,"he added.

The Cocpo spokesman said the filing of the case where Deloso identified the respondents is another angle that investigators need to look into.

But, Hortillosa said only Deloso can confirm and shed light on the incident.

"Siya ra gyud makatubag sa tanan kung personal ba ni nga bikil or trabaho ba. Tanan angulo tan-awon man gyud sa mga investigators," Hortillosa said.

Superintendent Surki Serenas, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao, has assured the concerned parties that there will be no cover-up or white wash "as we uncover the truth and seek justice and we will always stick to what is right and just."

"The PNP has never been and will never resort to using excessive force in our operations; much more resort to extrajudicial means in accomplishing our tasks and objectives,"Serenas said.

He said the PRO will let legal processes roll and wait until the court decides.

"This is a very sensitive issue. The case is already with the state prosecutors and we have to avoid undue influence on the case. We earnestly call for impartiality by not dragging the entire police unit into the conflict. The parties involved are individuals. I think they are responsible enough to answer for themselves in the court," Serenas said.

"Our way forward will be based on the decision of the court. We will not preempt the legal inquiry and will not speculate as to who is guilty or innocent," he added.
