AS THE year draws to a conclusion and as we flip the calendar to a new year, it would be good to look back on what has been and see if we are better or worse off today than when the year began.
For our part at SunStar CDO, we have our shares of gains and challenges as we facilitated the entry of new blood in our newsroom which set a new direction for digital media.
Our readership has rocketed to an unprecedented record. But perhaps just by holding our fortress in our most challenging hours made this year a successful one.
SunStar CDO prides itself for being bold, fearless and independent. We had an interesting year highlighted by the re-tuning of our opinion or editorial, local sports, lifestyle and a heightened appetite for local politics. We welcomed about 30 new local columnists and contributors who are experts and well respected in their fields, dauntlessly sharing their stories and their take on issues that beset our city and our country at a given time. They spiced up our daily paper and made us more in demand by the local subscribers from all ages and from all walks of life.
Our editorial team is more committed than ever to providing you timely and worthwhile news that we deem helpful in forging a better city.
Our biggest concern focuses on the future of Northern Mindanao. And so we shall continue to be the guardians of truth and independent monitors of power even as pressures from all directions grow intense especially on this election season. We are not perfect and not without error but we shall not fold.
While to some we are just an unwelcomed disturbance, our purpose is to really be part of the forging of a better locality. That our intentions shall hopefully be transformed into laws and programs that can better address the gaps in our community, and not just add to the noise.
