A SUSPECTED gun-for-hire and drug supplier from Toledo City was shot dead by policemen when he resisted arrested on Sunday morning, Dec. 30, in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
The police were serving the warrant for the arrest of Hamilton Juares, 32, who was facing attempted murder charges.
Juares was believed to be the gunman of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center jail guard who was ambushed on Happy Valley Road in Cebu City last November.
According to Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), personnel from the PIB, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Police Station 9 served the warrant issued by the judge of the Toledo City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 69.
Batobalanos said they asked a woman to knock on the door of Juares’ rented apartment at 11 a.m.
Juares opened the door after 15 minutes but shut it close after checking who was outside. He reportedly came back and tried to fire his .45 pistol but it didn’t go off. The police shot Juares while he was loading bullets into his firearm.
Juares was hit in the chest and died instantly.
In 2017, Juares shot the RTC Toledo City sheriff who served his subpoena. Batobalonos received a report that Juares also killed a frat member in Toledo.
Also, he allegedly sold illegal drugs in Toledo and supplied shabu to pushers there. From HBL of Superbalita Cebu / LRC
