ARE your hips larger than your upper body? Do you have a smaller mid-section compared to your hips? Can your body shape be likened to a triangle? Then, you are a pear-shaped.

Dressing up this body type can be tricky at times. I should know because I am a pear-shaped myself! Anyway, we should not worry about being a pear-shaped. Just think of Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez as the famous international stars who have a body type like ours.

This 2019, there are fashion staples that we may want to consider to emphasize on our waist rather than the other parts of our body. Experts have recommended that we should have the following pieces in our wardrobe:

Square pants

Square pants, culottes, wide leg trousers, or whatever you want to call it. This pair of bottoms can flatter the waist of a pear-shaped body. Meanwhile, its width will give an illusion of our hips having the same size with our shoulders. Thus, creating an hourglass, the shape that a lot of women are dreaming to have. I must admit, it has been my desire as well to have a well-contoured physique.

Jackets and blazers

Since we want somehow to hide our wide hips, we can put on a jacket or a blazer on top of our favorite shirt or blouse. Through this way, we can avoid people from focusing their attention on our hips. Rather, they will be drawn to our gorgeous top.

Pointed stilettos

To enhance our figure, it would be better if we choose a footwear that has a pointed face in stilettos. This will also elongate our legs making us appear taller and slimmer.

High-waist pants and skirts

High-waist pants and skirts can greatly help in highlighting our waist. By choosing this kind of clothing, people will notice first our mid-section, which looks slimmer than our hips, whenever they would see us.

Plunging necklines

Okay, some of you may say that plunging necklines could be too much. I am not saying that we would be showing off too much skin with what we are wearing. Designers and stylists are one in saying that there is always a classy way of wearing a top with a plunging neckline. Also, we can surely judge which is okay and which one is totally a big no. In short, wear something that is not too much, especially if you are gonna wear it in broad daylight.

The very essence in dressing up a pear-shaped is to soften the hip area, while putting more emphasis on the mid and upper areas. Yes, we can wear chunky accessories like huge earrings and neck pieces, but never use skirts and pants with too much embellishments that can draw attention on the said part of our body.
