THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has identified a total of 898 firecracker zones in Central Luzon for the New Year celebration.

“This is in compliance to President Rodrigo Duterte’s Executive Order No. 28 where use of firecrackers is confined in the designated places conducted under the supervision of a trained person duly licensed by the PNP,” said Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon director Joel Napoleon Coronel.

Bulacan has the most designated zones with 351 followed by Bataan with 195, Zambales with 163, Nueva Ecija with 93, Pampanga with 30, Tarlac with 29, Aurora with 23, and Angeles City with 14.

The PNP warned the public of dangerous firecrackers, such as Piccolo, Watusi, Giant Whistle Bomb, Giant Bawang, large Judas Belt, Super Lolo, Thunder Lolo, Atomic Bomb, Atomic Big Triangulo, Pillbox, Boga, Kwiton, Goodbye Earth, Goodbye Bading, Hello Columbia, Coke-in-can, Kabasi, Og, and other unlabeled and imported firecrackers.

“We once again appeal to the public to refrain from using illegal firecrackers to avoid any injuries. Instead of using firecrackers, we could all welcome the New Year with other forms of merriment to ensure a safe and healthy celebration of the holiday festivity,” Coronel added. (PR)
