Trike driver shot dead in Talisay

A 60-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead by an unidentified man onboard a motorcycle in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City on the afternoon of New Year's Eve, December 31.

Police identified the victim as Antonio Bascones, a resident of Sitio Malunggay, in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City.

Supt. Marlu Conag, Talisay City Police chief, said the suspect has been identified and is already in the process of surrendering to the authorities.

Conag said the victim was onboard his tricycle when the suspect, riding a blue motorcycle, suddenly approached him and shot him several times before fleeing the scene. It happened at 3:30 p.m. at P. Burgos Street in Barangay Poblacion.

Bascones sustained several gunshot wounds to his chest, resulting to his death.

Conag said witnesses told them that the suspect was identified to be at his 30s, had a large built, wearing a blue shirt and a brown baseball cap.
