ACCORDING to Cirilo “Brother Eloy” Arepal’s cards, the country can expect progress in 2019.
Government intrigues will continue, but so will President Rodrigo Duterte’s popularity, he said.
He saw no end to the killings this year and the problem with the insurgents will rage on.
He said 2019 will be a good year for the administration to continue to push for federalism, but he said this needs “refinement.”
“Kinahanglan pa ning estadehan og maayo (Federalism needs further study),” he said.
Arepal, who will turn 77 on Jan. 29, is a popular card reader based in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
He said there are two kinds of people in this world.
“Dunay mga tawo nga ngil-ad og sinultihan pero maayo og binuhatan (There are people who don’t say the right things but do good things),” he said. “Dunay mga tawo nga maayo og sinultihan apan walay maayong binuhatan (And there are those who say nice things but have done nothing good).”
In the May midterm elections, Arepal said several candidates running under Duterte’s banner will win, but in local politics, those who are not aligned with the President will be voted into office.
He said Cebu-based politicians whose family names start with “G, P and Y” will be elected.
As for the Marcoses, Arepal said the political clan from Ilocos Norte will not be easily erased from Philippine politics because they still have supporters.
