A MILITIAMAN ran amuck and killed a soldier and injured two other militiamen at a patrol base in the province of Basilan, a top police official said Tuesday.
Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said Faisal Alam went amuck around 5:50 p.m. on December 31, hitting Corporal Sali Tagayan and two other militiamen.
Tagayan died while undergoing medical treatment while the other two were later transferred to a hospital in Zamboanga City.
According to Licup, Alam went amuck for no apparent reason and fired his M16 rifle at the patrol base of the Army’s 15th Special Forces Company based in Kapatagan Grande detachment in Isabela City, Basilan.
Licup said the victims were on duty when the incident happened.
The Isabela City Police has launched a manhunt operation against the suspect. (SunStar Philippines)
