Mendoza: New shows in 2019

AS ANOTHER year unfolds, the two giant networks of the country, ABS-CBN and GMA, are coming out with new shows for their audiences.

The Kapamilya Network is set to introduce the following programs this year:

1. Starla

First on the list is the comeback project of Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo. “Starla” is a fantasy-themed series which will air anytime soon.

Accordingly, this will replace the long-running teleserye “FPJ: Ang Probinsyano” of Coco Martin. Davao City’s very own talented actor and singer Poppert Bernadas will be part of the upcoming primetime series.

2. The General’s Daughter

It appears that 2019 would be a year of seeing once again some of the best talents of the local television industry. “The General’s Daughter” will mark the return of Angel Locsin in the daily primetime. She was last seen on a TV series in 2017 when she joined Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in “La Luna Sangre.”

In this highly anticipated action-drama soap, the 33-year-old actress will be acting side-by-side with Tirso Cruz III, Albert Martinez and Janice de Belen, among others.

3. Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit

Cristine Reyes and Kaye Abad will be back to doing a soap opera as they will be part of “Nang Nguniti Ang Langit.” The acclaimed actresses will give more meaning to the story, which will be top-billed by a new child star, Sophia Reola.

The network also reported that it will also serve as the homecoming project of Kempee de Leon, who stayed with GMA Network for so many years.

4. Mea Culpa Sino Ang Maysala?

The name Tony Labrusca surely rings a bell, right?

After his successful project with Angel Aquino, the widely talked about “Glorious,” the actor will be regularly seen on TV. He will be part of the thriller series, which will be top-billed by Jodi Sta. Maria and Bela Padilla.

5. World of Dance Philippines

Those who are into dancing and watching dance contests do not have to tune in to foreign TV channels. The Kapamilya Network is bringing to the country the hit American dance reality show “World of Dance.”

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach will host it, while Gary Valenciano, Billy Crawford and Maja Salvador will be the judges.

In the meantime, ABS-CBN’s biggest rival, GMA Network, has also lined up exciting new programs for 2019. Among them are the following:

6. TODA One I love

Ruru Madrid and Kylie Padilla will top-bill the upcoming rom-com series “TODA One I love.” Gladys Reyes, Maureen Larrazabal, Tina Paner and Raymond Bagatsing are joining them in the show, which will look into the local elections.

7. Sahaya

Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix will be the stars of this inspiring story. “Sahaya” features the life of a Badjao girl who continuously strives to win over challenges and comes out successful.

As a love story, it will also tackle a love triangle among the main characters and Migo Adecer.

8. Kara Mia

It will be a battle between good and bad within one body for Barbie Forteza and Mika dela Cruz, the stars of “Kara Mia,” a story about a two-faced character. Barbie is Kara, while Mika is Mia, the face behind the former’s head.
