Diether clears break-up issue

WALKING down the aisle is not on top of the priority of ABS-CBN hunk actor Diether “Diet” Ocampo.

There are ongoing talks that Diet and girlfriend Rima Ostwani broke up because the actor wasn't offering marriage at all.

Diet cleared the issue and said they are in good terms right now and they are not affected by the rumors.

“Itong mga naglalabasang mga issue eh hindi dapat isipin, alam naman namin yung totoo kaya there's nothing to worry about,” he said.

The actor also denied rumors that Rima is leaving him because she wants to settle down. “Hindi maganda sa babae yung mapabalita yung mga issue na ganun. Hindi totoo yung mga naglalabasan na ganyang mga issue.”

Diet added that Rima is just 23 years old and she has a lot of things to accomplish with her blossoming career.

“She's very young, marami pang pwedeng gawin sa punto ng career nya ngayon. Ako ganun din, I'm quite busy right now (Rubi) and finishing an indie film and we have a very good tandem,” he said.

The actor and kids advocate said they never talked about it and that with what is happening in his showbiz career right now, marriage is not on top of his priority.

“Sa nagiging takbo ng trabaho ko ngayon, hindi ko pa puwedeng i-prioritize yung mga ganyang bagay. But definitely, darating tayo diyan,” he said. “Ayoko namang pangunahan kung matutuloy na or hindi. Pero ang sa akin, definitely, dapat mapaghandaan and everyone will be well-informed.”

Diet is very thankful to everyone who showed their support when the news broke out, saying when the news started to circulate, that was the only time he discovered a lot of people cares on his relationship with Rima.

“Bihira ka ng makikita ng kapartner sa buhay na naiintindihan yung trabaho mo, yung ganoon ka supportive. Napakadali nyang kausap, masaya syang kasama,” he said of Rima.

Rima on entering showbiz

The hunk actor also clarified that Rima is not entering the entertainment world soon.

“She's not, let me just clarify that. I think na mas maganda na si Kuya Boy na lang din ang kausapin niyo. But as far as I'm concerned, hindi siya papasok sa larangan ng pag-aartista. She's a very good host (its much more appropriate if you will talk to Tito Boy (Abunda). But as far as I'm concerned, she will not enter showbiz. She's a very good host though.”

Rima is now being handled by Boy Abunda.

According to Diet, before Rima went to the retail business, she actually auditioned for ANC, ABS-CBN news cable program, but declined the training program offered to her.

“But given the opportunity to try it again, definitely, sa tingin ko, hindi malayong mangyari yun dahil yun talaga ang gusto niya,” he said.

Rima finished a degree in International Relations and is fond of doing hosting jobs.

“Ang ano kasi kay Rima, planado lahat ng ginagawa niya. So right now she might do a lot of hosting job but she's also doing a lot of endorsements, yun priority nya right now,” Diet said.

He added that he is very supportive of Rima's career and will be with her always.

Moving to another station

The actor also denied rumors of him transferring to GMA 7 network.

“No, I've been with ABS. Dito na ako nagsimula, alam naman ng mga tao na dito na ako natutong umarte. Dito na ako nabigyan ng magandang proyekto, dito na ako nabigyan ng magandang break,” Diet said.

He added that he continues to receive good projects and there are a lot of programs and shows lined up for him.

Diet will be part of Valentine offering of ABS-CBN “Rubi,” which will air this February 15, 2010.

Other casts of “Rubi” include Angelica Panganiban, Jake Cuenca, and Shaina Magdayao.

When asked of his reaction on Claudine Barretto's move to GMA 7 network, he said: “I personally respect kung ano man yung naging decision in Bes (Claudine) dahil hindi madali yung ganyang decision pero whatever she has decided on, hindi ako kumokontra dun kasi alam kong hindi rin madali sa kanya na dun na sya. Meron syang magandan dahilan definitely.”

Diet and Claudine are good friends on and off camera.

While he can't say whether he will be moving or not in the coming months or years, Diet said that one thing's for sure, he's enjoying his work with ABS-CBN. “I don't focus on what's about to happen but kung anong nangyayari ngayon and I'm enjoying all the things that are happening right now.” (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
