NegOcc to have new top cop

THE Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) will soon be headed by Senior Superintendent Romeo Baleros, chief of Intelligence Division of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas.

This was confirmed by Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., Nocppo director, who will be relieved from his post effective January 7.

Castil said his relief order is part of the reassignment of police whose two-year tenure of duty falls within the election period this year.

The campaign period will start on January 13 and the midterm election will be on May 13.

Castil said his two-year tenure in the province will end on April 1.

He was supposed to be relieved on December 20, 2018 but it was moved this month.

Baleros, a native of Batangas, is also set to retire from the police service in a year, Castil said.

Castil said he already informed Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. about his reassignment to the regional headquarters.

He said there will be a turnover ceremony to be led by Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, director of PRO- Western Visayas, in the coming days.

Castil, a native of Pangasinan, came from the Anti-Kidnapping Group of the Philippine National Police headquarters before he replaced Senior Superintendent Rolando Miranda, who was temporarily assigned as officer-in-charge of Nocppo for five days after Senior Superintendent William Señoron was removed from his post as the provincial director in March 2018.
