SIGNATURE Art presented another collaboration with one of the city’s talents that tells about the beauty of life and its complexities called “Facets by Yvonne Quisumbing.”

Quisumbing is a multimedia artist and fashion designer based in Cebu City, and the third artist to have worked closely with Signature Art using minaudieres as the “canvas.” Bag and accessories designer Janice Chua, of Signature Art, shared that the collaboration stemmed from her fascination with Quisumbing’s works, adding that she gravitated toward them because they were “striking” and “translated well.”

In an exhibit held at The Pig and Palm, located at MSY tower, Cebu Business Park last Dec. 8, it showcased more than 20 clutches. Gemstones, botanicals and butterflies added that pop of color to the minaudieres made of capiz shell. These are bags that not only show beauty but also depth, much like one’s multi-faceted life and the phases that come with it.

Through art, (a wearable one at that) Quisumbing, by employing surrealism, produced works that make one look at them from different sides, just as one has to look at a person or a situation from every angle.

“Once you know the facets of a person, that’s when you understand them,” shared the artist.
