Alambra: A Happy New Year 2019!

Happy, not hapless, 2019!

Hap, hap, hurray!

Err, hop, hop, hurry!

Yes, hop!

And, yes, hurry!

So life will not pass us by.

As we may pass this way – this very way – but once.

Once upon a 2018

We now have four Miss Philippines as Miss Universe!

A Filipina as Miss Universe in 2015; and another Filipina as Miss Universe in 2018!

What a feat!

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray:

Both of them on their second wind – never giving up!

Congratulations to Filipinas – and to all women (and men!) worldwide – who try and try until we succeed!

Silver lining

I watched the pageant mid-way or past mid-way – and its replayed highlights – and got to learn some new ways of doing things:

“Lava walk” or “lava” u-turn while ramping onstage...

And highlighting the “silver lining” (in dark clouds).

This “looking for the silver lining” helped seal and capture for Miss Philippines Catriona Gray the Miss Universe crown and scepter!

As they waited for the announcement on who will be the next Miss Universe, I took a TV grab of the pageant aired on the Philippines’ TV station ABS-CBN – and I noted:

2018 December 17 (Monday) 11 a.m.:

The moment they waited for;

The moment of reckoning – in silver lining.

Which one will be Miss Universe 2018?

At right: Miss South Africa (head held high and looking up);

At left: Miss Philippines (bowed).

Take a bow, Miss Philippines! Miss Universe 2018!

And among the winners is...

The cheerful pageant emcee who – this time – made sure to analyze/read/announce the correct winning country!

Many thanks!

Shining moment for the 2018 crop of Asian beauties

Aside from our country's candidate who got to win the 2018 Miss Universe title:

I liked Miss Vietnam, Miss Thailand, Miss Indonesia – and Miss Nepal!

By the way, I used to have cropped hair like Miss Vietnam – when I was hosting my community cable TV talk show “Up North with Au Alambra” aired over Nortcomm Image TV, then on Viacomm, and finally on SkyCable.

Now thinking of going for my previous “semi-kalbo” hairdo – aside from my long-planned revival of Up North with Au Alambr’ – the live cable TV talk show on everything and anything Baguio.

That would be some new look (!) from my long-cultivated long hair – and long-cultivated look!

New look

Still on new looks – and second winds – the Irisan National High School (INHS) in the biggest barangay of Baguio City is sporting a “new look” with the repainting of its seven buildings!

The repainting project is a novel one as it had two parties – the paint source and the labour source donating to the cause.

The paint and painting materials were donated by Team Baguio's Antonio Tabora – former Baguio City councilor & vice mayor presiding over the Baguio City Council... [Team Baguio is co-headed by Mr. Tabora and former Baguio City Mayor Peter Rey Bautista...]

And the INHS Parents & Teachers Association (PTA) trooped to the school of their children to volunteer their counterpart contribution – labour.

Teachers and parents informed me at mid-week that around 30 parents came to the school on the first painting day to tackle the seven buildings of INHS – including the stage.

The spirit of volunteerism sprang to life in this novel project highlighting ownership.
