BACOLOD City Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda said on Thursday, January 3, that they are still gathering data to determine the owners of the “ukay-ukay” (used clothing) which was illegally sold at the downtown area on January 1.
Pineda, head of the market coordinating and monitoring task force, said it’s the first time that several transient vendors installed improvised stalls in various areas.
The vendors occupied a portion of Araneta-Luzuriaga Streets and from Luzuriaga Street towards Gatuslao Street.
Pineda said the “ukay-ukay” vendors failed to secure a special permit from the city government.
“We will regulate them so it will not happen again,” he said.
Pineda noted that all vendors are required to secure special permits before they can display their products during Christmas season.
“We will hold a series of meetings so we can regulate them and we will not allow vendors to display their products anywhere,” he said.
Pineda disclosed that he will refer this concern to the City Legal Office. (MAP)
