PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, January 4, conducted an aerial inspection of communities in the Bicol region that were badly hit by the floods and landslides caused by heavy rains brought by Tropical Depression Usman.

Usman left 122 people dead, 28 missing, and 60 others injured, according to a situation report by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council as of Friday.

Duterte flew around Iriga City, Nabua, Buhi, Milaor and Bula, Camarines to check on the effects of the massive flooding caused by “Usman”, according to a media advisory sent to Palace reporters.

He also monitored the landslide situation in Tiwi, Albay and Sagñay, Camarines Sur.

Duterte was accompanied by former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go.

After the aerial inspection, the President presided over a situation briefing with Cabinet members and local officials held at Camarines Sur Watersports Complex in Pili, Camarines Sur.

Incessant heavy rains brought by “Usman” on December 29 triggered deadly landslides and catastrophic flooding in several areas in the Bicol Region as well as in Eastern Visayas region. (SunStar Philippines)
