SIX more impounding vehicles for stray pets are needed to accommodate the three congressional districts in Davao City.
The Davao City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO) owns only one vehicle roaming around the city since the other one already bogged down.
Rabies and Control program coordinator and chief of Animal Disease Prevention and Control Section Doctor Gay Pallar said yesterday their office proposed two vehicles each for the three congressional districts in the city, but the city approved only four.
“It is important to have impounding vehicles to minimize stray pets kay makita nimo naa man gyud mga (because we can see these) stray animals wherever you go,” Pallar said, adding that one vehicle could not sustain the need of the city.
“Mas better gyud na naay impounding vehicles per congressional district para ang main vehicle magsuroy-suroy na lang (It is much better to have impounding vehicles per district so that the main vehicle could roam around the city),” she said.
Pallar further said that for so long, CVO owns only one vehicle and this made it harder for them to accommodate the needs of the city in terms of stray animals that need to be impounded.
She admits that requests of the different barangays are already piling up and that some of the requests were not accommodated anymore.
Meanwhile, CVO reported that there were 2,520 impounded pets from January to October 2018.
