THE Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (Dcott) is in need of additional bus bays to accommodate more bus trips especially during peak seasons.
Dcott head Aisa Usop told SunStar Davao that the influx of passengers has increased prompting their office to propose additional franchise to provide more bus trips in 2019.
"It is high time na ang atong LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) maghatag og additional nga franchise sa atong mga buses (It is high time that the LTFRB would give additional franchise to buses)," Usop said, adding that this is one of the remedies their office think would decongest passengers during peak season.
"I already proposed na kaning atong mga bays, himuon nato og back-to-back kay kung naay additional franchise that would also mean additional buses (I already proposed that our bays should be back-to-back if there will be additional franchise since it would also mean additional buses)," she said.
On regular days, Dcott has 750 to 800 north and south-bound bus trips and this significantly increases during peak seasons like Undas, Christmas, New Year, and Holy Week.
Usop said additional terminal sites for public land transport vans will be another solution.
These will soon be established in Toril, Calinan, Bajada, Buhangin, and Agdao areas as the 18th City Council approved the ordinance last September 18, 2018.
Meanwhile, Usop said that the additional bay will force them to relocate the stalls inside Dcott.
