6 nabbed for drugs in Negros

SIX persons were arrested for sale and illegal possession of illegal drugs in separate drug busts in Negros Occidental on Friday, January 4.

In Bacolod City, Ramiro Montaño, 59, of Barangay 27, a high-value target, was arrested after he allegedly yielded four sachets of "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing 2.6 grams worth P31,200, a coin purse, lighter, an improvised tooter, and the P500 marked money. He is detained at Police Station 4.

Also arrested in Barangay 2 were Mauro Dadivas and Reniel Oro after police seized from them five sachets of "shabu" and the P1,000 marked money. Both are detained at Police Station 2.

In Sagay City, Raffy Nicor, 32; William Urbanu, 34; and Randy Melgar, 38, all residents of Barangay Vito, were collared in the said village which resulted to the recovery of six sachets of "shabu" worth P3,000, two plastic sachets, a tooter, other drug paraphernalia, nine live cartridges of .40 caliber, the P500 marked money, and P330 in cash.

Meanwhile, a man was injured after he allegedly engaged in a firefight with police operatives in Barangay Banago on January 4.

Wounded was Jason Barbas.

Personnel of Police Station 3 were supposed to serve an arrest warrant for illegal drugs against Bryan Barbas when Barbas, who was also present during the operation, reportedly drew a firearm and fired at the police.

Bryan was able to escape while Jason is confined at a hospital after sustaining injuries.

Police recovered from the scene a .38 caliber revolver loaded with four live ammunition and a fired cartridge. (Christopher Yanson, CHMSC-Talisay intern)
