Police to remain persistent with anti-drug ops in Davao

POLICE Regional Office (PRO)- Davao Region vowed to remain persistent on their campaign against illegal drugs in Davao Region for 2019.

“We are relentless on our campaign against illegal drugs by conducting more and more anti-drug operations until we stop its proliferation and soon together with our children, we will savor and enjoy a drug-free and crime-free Philippines,” regional director Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales said.

Data showed that from January 1 to November 30, 2018, a total of 1,173 anti-drug operations have been conducted by the police.

A total of 1,608 drug suspects were arrested.

A total of 121,640 grams of “marijuana” and 2,009 grams of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with an estimated value of P30,416,034 were also confiscated.

The authorities were also able to file 1,150 cases in court.

On Friday, another two drug sellers were arrested in separate police operations. Operatives of Tagum City Police Station conducted drug busts in Purok Gementiza, Barangay Visayan Village, Tagum City and arrested the target identified as Victor John Santocildes Lip, 27, and a resident of Sandawa, Barangay 76-A, Davao City.

Items confiscated from Lip were three sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu,” two aluminum roll, two disposable lighters, and three bamboo clips counterfeit drug bust money.

On another operation, a certain Mikishella Barrida, 20, jobless and a resident of Purok Pagkakaisa-2, Barangay Central, Mati City, Davao Oriental was arrested by officers of Mati City Police Station, during a drug bust at his residence.

Recovered from the suspect were one sachet believed to be containing “shabu,” one improvised glass tooter, a mobile phone, and P3,000 drug bust money. (JCR)
