Residents urged to settle tax obligation

THE Office of the City Treasurer has urged Zamboanga City residents to settle their tax obligations as the month of January marks the start of collection efforts for various local taxes.

City Treasurer Romelita Candido on Monday, January 7, said the office has begun its renewed collection efforts for the year with collections on business taxes, real property taxes, and the community tax certificate or cedula.

Candido said they extended the operating hours during weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to be able to accommodate the large number of residents who flocked to City Hall for the collections and payment transactions. Weekend hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To further ease the long queue, Candido reminded residents that they can opt to get their cedulas from their respective villages.

Per records, 58 villages have been deputized and have community tax certificate (CTC) on balance.

These vilalges included: Ayala, Bolong, Buenavista, Bunguiao, Cabaluay, Calabasa, Calarian, Camino Nuevo, Canelar, Capisan, Cawit, Culianan, Curuan, Dita, Dulian–Upper Bunguiao, Dulian–Upper Pasonanca, Guisao, Guiwan, La Paz, Labuan, Lamisahan, Lanzones, Licomo, Maasin, Malagutay, Mampang, Mangusu, Manicahan, Latuan, Mercedes, Muti, Pamucutan, Pasonanca, Putik, Quiniput, Recodo, Salaan, San Jose Cawa Cawa, San Jose Gusu, San Roque, Sangali, Sibulao, Sinubong, Sinunuc, Sta. Catalina, Sta. Maria, Sto. Niño, Talisayan, Taluksangay, Tetuan, Tictapul, Tolosa, Tugbungan, Zambowood, Zone I, Zone II, Zone III, and Lubigan.
