TWENTY-SEVEN passengers and their driver sustained injuries after their bus fell into a ditch along Kilometer 78 National Highway in Barangay Malinawon, Mawab, Compostela Valley on Sunday, January 6.

A report provided by Police Regional Office Davao (PRO 11) spokesperson Police Chief Inspector Jason Baria on Monday, January 7, said driver Danvic Camino, 44, lost control of the Davao Metro Shuttle bus he was driving after its brakes malfunctioned.

The bus was traveling from Tagum City towards Nabunturan, Compostela Valley when the accident happened at 3:35 p.m. on Sunday.

Some of the passengers were rushed to Davao Doctors Community hospital in Mawab while others were brought to Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) in Tagum City for treatment. The cost of the damage to the vehicle has not been determined.

Meanwhile, the driver will be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple physical injury.

“As of now wala pa na file-lan ng case kasi nasa hospital pa ang driver, then inaayos pa yung affidavit ng mga victims,” Baria said.

He added that the bus company is willing to shoulder the hospital expenses of the victims.
