A PROVINCIAL official of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has urged jobless Dabawenyos to venture in the digital platform.
DTI-Davao del Sur Provincial Director Delia M. Ayano said they have partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in advocating for online jobs through the Tech4Ed program.
“This is a way to also help our Dabawenyos to have a source of income through the online platform,” Ayano said.
The Tech4Ed project of the government provides access points for individuals and communities to bridge the digital and education divide. It promotes grassroots development and opportunities for inclusive growth and poverty reduction. Through the program, Dabawenyos can have an access to information, communications, technology, government services, non-formal education, skills training, tele-health, job markets, and business portals.
To match job opportunities through Tech4Ed, Dabawenyos are taught technical set skills like virtual assistance, business processing services, and online marketing.
In 2018, Tech4Ed program and memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing happened between DTI 11 and DICT for the 13 Negosyo Centers in Davao Region.
The signing agreement aims to strengthen the collaborative use of digital platform in assisting jobs for Dabawenyos.
Through the Rural Impact Sourcing (RIS) Technical Training in Davao del Sur and Compostela Valley last year, around 45 scholars graduated from the program, and around 40 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) were assisted in developing their own websites for digital campaign.
In 2018, three memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed between technological institutions and academe in order to promote knowledge and use of information and technology (IT).
The MOUs include investments on big data analytics along the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-Eaga) region, a data private officer certification course between University of Mindano (UM) and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Davao, and a small and medium enterprise (SME) E-Commerce Platform hub.
