THE 12-time grand champion and crowd favorite Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe of Tangub City, Misamis Occidental will join the Sinulog 2019 grand parade again on January 20 as guest contingent.
Councilor Dave Tumulak said Tangub City Mayor Phillip Tan wrote him to inform the City about their intention to perform during the grand parade.
This will be the second time that Tangub is not joining the Sinulog grand parade as official contingent.
“They will just dance as an offering to Sto. Niño,” Tumulak said.
The Tangub City Government decided to take a break from the competition and bring their pilgrimage to other venues where they could experience once more the solemnity that drew them to Cebu, where thousands are devoted to the Señor Sto. Nino.
The Sinanduloys have decided to take a three-year hiatus from joining the grand parade competition starting last year.
But despite not joining the competition, the Sinanduloys also performed last year as guest performers.
This year, they will perform inside the Cebu City Sports Center right before the grand finale of Sinulog 2019.
Since joining the Sinulog grand parade 20 years ago, the Sinanduloys have won 12 ritual showdowns in the Sinulog-based category, making a name for themselves and a place in the hearts of spectators.
