ONE of the two suspects in the Cotabato City bombing on December 31, has surrendered to the police, an official said on Tuesday, January 8.

Chief Superintendent Eliseo Rasco, Police Regional Office director in Soccsksargen, said Salipudin Pasandalan, 56, was accompanied by his family when he surrendered to the authorities on Sunday evening, January 6, after his photos were released by the police.

He is now detained at the Cotabato City Police Station.

Rasco said Pasandalan refused to provide any information but denied his involvement in the incident.

He said Pasandalan is now being assisted by two lawyers and will no longer make further statements.

Two persons were killed while 34 others were injured following the explosion of an improvised explosive device outside a mall in Cotabato City in the afternoon of December 31.

Rasco said that the closed circuit television (CCTV) footage showed Pasandalan placing the IED beside a lotto outlet. (SunStar Philippines)
