NCCA: National Museum to hold Seminar on Museum Practice Series

THE National Museum (NM) is opening the New Year by continuing its Seminar on Museum Practice Series.

The Seminar on Museum Practice Series is NM's way of disseminating the technical skills through public programs, particularly in the preservation and restoration of cultural properties that are of national significance. This contributes to the country's museum development.

January 2019 focused on NM’s ongoing research manifested in the outreach and technical assistance programs extended to the stakeholders in different parts of the country.

Four presentations will be shared to the public which will include the church restoration projects in Bohol and the La Inmaculada Concepcion Church heritage conservation in Guiuan, Samar. There will also be a discussion on the Hibla ng Lahing Filipino exhibition and its various corollary activities that have toured in the UK, Europe and United States of America. The seminar will also include a talk on decolonizing museum practice in the Philippines, focusing on the framework of conservation of objects.

The Seminar will be held at the Auditorium on the ground floor of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Padre Burgos Avenue, Manila on January 15, 2019, Tuesday, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Registration will start at 8:30am. It is free and open to the public, but seats are limited.
