A PORTION of the Mambukal Convention Hotel in Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia town, Negros Occidental collapsed early Tuesday, January 8.

Resort manager Ellen Jalandoni confirmed the incident happened around 2:20 a.m.

No one was hurt, she added.

Jalandoni said she immediately reported the incident to Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa, who dispatched Engineers Jay Alpas and Paul Cusi to secure the area and conduct an investigation to avoid any untoward incident.

Jalandoni also said the hotel has not yet been turned over to the Province.

She did not give further comment, as Mapa should be the one to make a report to the media, she said.

When reached for an interview, Mapa was not answering the calls made by SunStar Bacolod.

Jalandoni said the construction of the hotel with 48 rooms and three convention halls is worth P84 million.

“Our main concern really is the safety of the tourists and everyone inside the resort,” she said.

She said that Alfie's Construction is the contractor of the hotel.

Jalandoni said she has no knowledge of the other details of the contract and that she could not comment on who will do the repair or reconstruction of the damaged portion of the hotel.
