MORE than 800 persons sought medical assistance during the Traslacion 2019, an annual religious procession commemorating the transfer of the image of the Black Nazarene from Intramuros to Quiapo Church.

As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, the Philippine Red Cross said they have attended to 850 patients.

The organization said its various teams manning first aid stations along the procession's route monitored the blood pressure of 565 individuals and administered first aid to 224 patients.

Cases included difficulty breathing, fainting, punctured, abrasion, bruises, laceration, toothache, nosebleed, sprain, hypoglycemia, and swelling.

No serious injury has been reported so far.

The organization said an estimated 1.03 million devotees have flocked to the streets of Manila to take part in the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

National Capital Region Police Office Chief Guillermo Eleazar said the procession has reached Escolta in Manila as of 2 p.m.

He said at least 335,000 devotees joined the procession while 105,000 others are waiting for the arrival of the image at the Quiapo church.

Eleazar said the situation at the Quirino Grandstand has normalized and Roxas Boulevard is already passable to motorists.
