WITH the launch of the Davao-Jinjiang direct flight in December 2018, Davao City seeks to invite more Chinese investors to come to the city, a city investment officer said.
“Ang isa sa mga ginatan-aw nato na possible investment for Jinjiang kay more on the garments kay known ang Jinjiang for it (One of the possible investments we are looking with Jinjiang is more on the garments because Jinjiang is known for it),” Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC) Officer-In-Charge Lemuel Ortonio said in an interview.
“Hopefully, makita nila ang potential sa Davao City as a potential site para sa ilang manufacturing of garments (Hopefully, they can see Davao City as a potential site for garment manufacturers),” Ortonio added.
In 2018, the city cemented its ties with Jinjiang after signing a sisterhood agreement.
The agreement was formalized with the visit of Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio last November 12 to 14 in Jinjiang. The agreement is expected to bring in more investments in the city and people-to-people exchanges between the Jinjiang and Davao.
Based on the records of the Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), there were some 10,000 Chinese tourists who visited the city from January to November 2018.
