DAVAO City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC) officer-in-charge Lemuel Ontorio said the city is looking for investments on logistics for agribusinesses.

“For our agribusiness sector, we are looking on agri-logistics investment sub-activities like storage facilities,” Ontorio said.

He said storage facilities will help farmers have more efficient farm-to-market transactions if agricultural produce are well kept and well maintained.

Ontorio said topping the list of investment inquiries last year were mainly on agriculture. However, they cannot disclose further details on some of these inquiries yet because they are still in talks with the investors.

In June 2018, DCIPC received three different Chinese and American investors signifying interest in investing for agricultural drones in the city. The agricultural drones will be used for land surveying in assisting farmers monitor their vast lands.

Meanwhile, he pointed out that the city's reputation as an investment destination for agribusinesses have been growing following the success of the city’s cacao industry.

“Of course, kami sa investment and promotion sector sa city encourages atong mga future business investors na tanawon pud ang opportunities na naa sa Davao in regards to agriculture given na known pud ang city for very rich agricultural lands (We from the investment and promotion sector of the city encourages our future investors to look at the opportunities on agriculture here in Davao City given that it is known for its very rich agricultural lands),” Ontorio said.
