CEBUANO hoop fans will get another chance to watch the Asean Basketball League (ABL) defending champion San Miguel Alab Pilipinas with the team’s return on Feb. 3 at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

Alab Pilipinas put up a clinical 105-95 win over the cellar-dweller Zuhai Wolf Warriors of China on Sunday night, Jan. 6, on their first game in Cebu. But it’s going to be a different challenge for Alab Pilipinas side when it faces a formidable visitor in the Saigon Heat.

The Heat are currently at third place in the standing with 7-4 (win-loss) record, two ranks behind the league-leader Alab Pilipinas, which has a 5-1 card.

Alab Pilipinas head coach and former national team player Jimmy Alapag praised the overwhelming support of the Cebuano fans who came out to support the team.

Alapag told SunStar Cebu after the game about the plan to play here again in February. Local organizer and Gilas team manager Andrew Teh confirmed it on Wednesday.

Teh was appreciative of the support given by the Lapu-Lapu City government and the fans on the Alab Pilipinas first home game in Cebu.

Alab Pilipinas got its fifth straight win here before falling short to Westports Malaysia Dragons, 72-71, on Wednesday at the Maba Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

Alab remains on top of the standing. Macau Black Bears at second place with 6-2 card followed by the Heat.

Alab Pilipinas will play seven more games before its return to Cebu. The team is set to face Hongkong Eastern twice on Jan. 11 and Jan. 27, Formosa Dreamers on Jan. 13, Macau Black Bears on Jan. 18, Mono Vampires on Jan. 20, Westport Dragons on Jan. 25 and Wolf Warriors Jan. 29.

Tickets for the game are available at P500 for the lower box and P300 for the upper box. (RSC)
